Existence Time

The old ash has lived its days in this form

The bores have eaten the marrow from its bones

Its shade to this house and yard has come to an end

Beetles and worms will now run its branches rather than squirrels

Splits from its trunk will turn to ash warming those by the fire

Now in new forms it will continue its journey beyond its roots

The old ash still stands amongst the myriad things
